Chvrches discuss plans for their next album
In a conversation with Gigwise backstage at Primavera Sound (side note: if you haven’t been already, you should check out the festival’s live webcast), Glasgow’s Chvrches stated that they hope to begin work on their next album, the followup to last year’s sensational The Bones of What You Believe (which scored #14 on our Best Fit Fifty: Albums of 2013), come autumn.
When asked about the followup, singer Lauren Mayberry responded “Well, I guess the album only came out in September so in terms of album release schedules I don’t know…We’ve got a few bits and pieces kicking about so we’ll be doing loads of festivals and touring this summer, so then’s probably a good time to regroup and take some time in the studio.”
Obviously that’s not the most concrete statement, and the rest of the interview suggests that the band simply intends to play it by ear for now and see what sort of ideas transpire over the next few months—still, any acknowledgement of potential new Chvrches material is good news, no?
