Charli XCX, Neneh Cherry, Lianne La Havas and more to play Bestival
Bestival has announced a huge wave of new names to its 2015 bill - all of them female.
In a bid to point out that not all festivals have a huge gender gap when it comes to booking artists, the Isle Of Wight based event has unveiled a range of top drawer additions.
Speaking about the lineup announcement, organiser/curator Rob Da Bank said:
“Well whaddya know? There are shedloads of amazing people making some startlingly good music at the moment… from pop to leftfield, soul to hip-hop and some ace DJs too, and look, lots of them are female! Whatever next?
“Joking aside, I'm really proud to announce the next wave of talent for Bestival - from pop starlets Charli XCX and Ella Eyre, to the legendary Neneh Cherry, and so many good new indie bands like Jagaara, Honeyblood and Girlpool. We're also raving away at Bestival HQ to the latest mixes from leading lights of the DJ scene, B Traits, Monki and Moxie. I cannot wait for September now - see you there!”
The full list of new names is: Charli XCX, Lianne La Havas, Neneh Cherry, EKKAH, Moxie, B. Traits, Ella Eyre, Andreya Triana, SOAK, LoneLady, Jagaara, Monki, Kate Simco, Throwing Shade, Laura Moody, Girlpool, Graceland, DJ Barely Legal, Honeyblood and Josey Rebelle.
They join the likes of Future Islands, Flying Lotus, Tame Impala, Lily Allen, Underworld, The Chemical Brothers, Rae Morris, Fat White Family, Action Bronson, Four Tet, Pond, Young Fathers, Todd Terje, Lapsley, Shura, Jungle, Jurassic 5, Little Dragon, Kate Tempest and The Jacksons, as well as dozens of others.
