Bright Eyes play "Mariana Trench" during first performance in nine years on Colbert
Bright Eyes ended their nine-year performance hiatus last night (22 June) by playing latest single "Mariana Trench" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
The band united for their first performance in nine years on the same day they announced their first album since 2011's The People's Key.
"Mariana Trench" is the latest single from Bright Eyes' highly-anticipated LP, and they perform it together in a studio, with vocalist Conor Oberst wearing gloves due to COVID-19.
Their performance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert marks Bright Eyes' first peformance since they played a show in Hawaii back in November 2011.
Bright Eyes' Down in the Weeds, Where the World Once Was album will also feature earlier singles "One and Done", "Forced Convalescence" and "Persona Non Grata", and features a rhythm section made up of Jon Theodore (Mars Volta, Queens of the Stone Age, One Day as a Lion) and Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea.
