Brian Wilson asks fans to boycott upcoming Beach Boys hunting convention show
Brian Wilson has shared a petition to boycott an upcoming Beach Boys gig at a hunting convention.
Mike Love's Beach Boys are due to perform at the Safari Club International Convention in Reno, Nevada tomorrow (5 February), which will also see Donald Trump Jr as the keynote speaker.
Yesterday (3 February) on Twitter, Beach Boys co-founder Brian Wilson posted a link to a petition (which has over 75,000 signatures) to stop the band from performing at the convention, writing, "This organization supports trophy hunting, which Both Al [Jardine] and I are emphatically opposed to. There’s nothing we can do personally to stop the show, so please join us in signing the petition."

Love owns the touring rights to The Beach Boys. Wilson still performs some of their classic hits with Jardine under his own name.
Speaking to Variety about the gig, Love said, "We look forward to a night of great music in Reno and, as always, support freedom of thought and expression as a fundamental tenet of our rights as Americans. Peace & Love, Mike Love."
