Billy Ray Cyrus reveals lyrics that were scrapped from his "Old Town Road" verse
Billy Ray Cyrus has revealed an original line from his "Old Town Road" verse that was later scrapped.
The "Achy Breaky Heart" singer became quite the icon after "Old Town Road" was released, due to the country star singing about Fendi sports bras and Maserati sports cars.
In a recent interview with Taste of Country, Billy Ray Cyrus has revealed that his original lyrics for the longest Billboard Hot 100 Number One single in US history were slightly different.
Cyrus reveals that he received a phone call from Columbia Records in March to write a verse, and he went to work with writer Jozzy, aka Jocelyn Donald. Cyrus reveals, "For some reason I immediately thought it was funny to say "Baby's got a habit, diamond rings and marijuana.""
Despite it ticking the rhyming box, Cyrus was told to remove the marijuana, resulting in Jozzy suggesting the "Fendi sports bras" alternative. Cyrus jokes, "I thought, "Well that's probably good because I don't know what that is.""
