Bill Ryder-Jones' two-song secret set at End of the Road was short but incredibly beautiful
Bill Ryder-Jones showed up for a short set during today's End of the Road Festival as part of Best Fit's secret shows and sessions at the Dorset-based event.
Bill Ryder-Jones showed up for a short set during today's End of the Road Festival as part of Best Fit's secret shows and sessions at the Dorset-based event.
"I think you thought someone else was gonna be here and you're all too polite to leave," joked Ryder-Jones as he warmed up at the piano. "Be sympathetic if you can... I've not played the piano in some time," he told the audience before opening with "Wild Roses".
"I only woke up six hours ago," he continued, "and my voice is a bit croaky..."
He finished the two song set with "Christine" before heading off to play at the festival's Garden Stage.
So far this weekend Best Fit has staged last-minute intimate shows and sessions with Phosphescent, Karl Blau, Baywaves, Julia Jacklin, Laura Gibson, Whitney, Basia Bulat and Ezra Furman. Two more secret shows are planned for later today and will be signposted on-site and via Best Fit's Twitter.
