Beastie Boys win Monster Energy Drink lawsuit, awarded $1.7 million

The Beastie Boys have won their court case against the Monster Energy Drink company over copyright infringement offences.
The New York group originally filed the lawsuit back in 2012 after the drinks manufacturers used their music without consent and against the will of late member Adam Yauch, who banned his work from being used in adverts after his death.
Reuters report that surviving members Adam ‘Ad-Rock’ Horovitz and Mike ‘Mike D’ Diamond have been awarded $1.7 million in damages.
