BBC plans to broadcast Glastonbury celebration programme following festival cancellation
After Glastonbury's 50th anniversary celebrations were cancelled earlier today due to the coronavirus pandemic, the BBC has revealed plans to broadcast a celebratory programme for the festival in June.
After Emily and Michael Eavis revealed that cancelling Glastonbury 2020 was their "only viable option" after "the new government measures announced this week."
Following its cancellation, the BBC posted a statement in relation to the festival, "We, along with the Eavis family, are saddened that understandably, the Glastonbury Festival can’t take place."
The statement adds, "We are already looking forward to next year’s festival at Worthy Farm and will now look at providing our audiences with a celebration of Glastonbury in June."
