BBC confirms details of Eurovision and Glastonbury celebration shows after event cancellations
The BBC has revealed details of programmes celebrating Eurovision and Glastonbury after both events were cancelled following the coronavirus pandemic.
In a new post published today (24 March), the BBC has announced that it hopes to "bring the nation together and provide great British entertainment during these difficult times".
The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in the cancellation of Glastonbury's 50th anniversary celebrations, as well as the Eurovision Song Contest that was due to be held in Rotterdam in May.
On 16 May, BBC One will broadcast Eurovision: Come Together - a celebratory show hosted by Graham Norton that will "feature classic Eurovision performances" and looks "at what would have been in 2020", complete with entertaining interviews, including UK 2020 entry James Newman.
Glastonbury will also get a celebratory programme on BBC, which aims "to celebrate the spirit of this unique event". The celebrations will be projected across "radio, television and online with amazing performances for you to enjoy in the comfort of your home."
Although Glastonbury 2020 is cancelled, organisers Michael and Emily Eavis said in their statement that they would like to offer "all those people the chance to roll their £50 deposit over to next year, and guarantee the opportunity to buy a ticket for Glastonbury 2021".
