Anohni, Lee Ranaldo, Ira Kaplan and more perform at yearly tribute to Lou Reed
Lou Reed’s wife, Laurie Anderson, has certainly done everything possible to maintain Reed’s timeless contribution to the music industry.
The Bells: A Daylong Celebration Of Lou Reed returned for another year of tributes from a variety of great artists.
Held in New York City’s Lincoln Center, the day of tributes to Reed commenced with a tai-chi class held by Reed’s instructor, Master Ren GuangYi.
The day was filled out with a selection of covers, performed by the likes of Anohni, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, Yo La Tengo’s Ira Kaplan, New York Dolls’ David Johansen, and many more.
The tribute celebration also saw appearances from Steve Buscemi and Willem Dafoe, who recited lyrics whilst the rain drizzled over the patient and respectful crowd.
You can see a snippet from Steve Buscemi’s reading below.
