Angel Haze third place in BBC Sound of 2013
NY-based rapper Angel Haze has been announced as the third-placed act in the BBC Sound of 2013 tipster poll.
The annual list heralds the big names in new music and is voted for by the UK’s top journalists, broadcasters, tastemakers and bloggers.
Announced today (2 January), the hip-hop upstart is the third from the shortlist to be unveiled, after CHVRCHES on Monday and Laura Mvula yesterday.
The rapper revealed on BBC Radio 1 this morning that she originally wrote poetry which she then used as lyrics for her later verses.
Last year’s winner Michael Kiwanuka joined the likes of Jessie J and Adele in having topped the list.
The likes of The Weeknd, AlunaGeorge, Savages, HAIM and King Krule remain in this year’s nominations.
The runner-up will be announced tomorrow (3 January).
