American Football share "Desire Gets In The Way" from upcoming second record
American Football have unveiled "Desire Gets In The Way", another taste of their first album in 17 years.
The track follows "I've Been So Lost For So Long" and "Give Me The Gun" in previewing the LP - the quartet's second self-titled offering.
Speaking in a new interview with GQ, American Football's Mike Kinsella speaks about the decision to get another record out.
"Every guy in the band is in a totally different place, and has things going on in their regular real life. It was just hard to get together," says Kinsella. "We played a show, we were eating some lunch, and asked ourselves if we should do another record. We talked logistically how to do it, and that was like, last August. We figured out we could only get together in mid-March to record properly. It gave us time to write, but then we had to figure out when we could all get in the same room to write. We realized we had maybe two weekends for that. And then after March we couldn't really get together, but it was sort of like 'Oh, I can get away this weekend, or if you're in Chicago then we can get together...' so we just pieced everything together... We're not trying to get to some place or level. We tried breaking up. We did break up."
