Aaliyah links with The Weeknd on posthumous single "Poison"
Aaliyah's posthumous single "Poison" featuring The Weeknd has been unveiled.
"Poison" is Aaliyah's first new single in over 15 years, and is a posthumous collaboration with The Weeknd.
According to a press release, the track was written by Aaliyah's longtime collaborator Static Major and The Weeknd, and is produced by DannyBoyStyles and Nick Lamb.
Blackground Records founder and Aaliyah's uncle Barry Hankerson said, "I’m so excited to share this new song by Aaliyah and the very talented The Weeknd. I wanted her adoring fans to get a special gift before the holidays and felt it was the perfect time to release a never-before-heard offering."
The new single is also a taster of what to expect on her long-awaited fourth album Unstoppable, which is due for release in 2022.
As well as featuring on "Poison" today (17 December), The Weeknd also appears on FKA twigs' new single "Tears In The Club".
