A. G. Cook drops second Apple single "Xxoplex"
A. G. Cook has released "Xxoplex" as the second single from his upcoming album Apple, and has announced his Appleville livestream event for later this month.
A couple of weeks ago, PC Music founder A. G. Cook announced his second album in the space of a month with the lead song "Oh Yeah".
Today he's shared the next track on the album, "Xxoplex", which A. G. Cook describes as "the dark, industrial heart of Apple." He continues, "An unknown entity that has dominated dancefloors since its birth many centuries ago. But as I’ve spent more time with the track over the years, I’ve started to enjoy its softer side, a silliness, a sense that anything could happen. As Newton’s law of EDM gravitation states, every track is bound to drop at some point."
Speaking about his Apple LP, Cook says, "Apple is my own take on Personal Computer Music. I've always been interested in the blurred line between bedroom and professional studio production, and at what point a personality either gets created or accidentally takes shape. For me there's a great sense of freedom in combining something slick with something naive - a reality where anything could happen. In calling the album Apple, I wanted to draw attention to one of the simplest, most everyday objects, which somehow contains references to almost everything imaginable - from computers to The Beatles, New York to Snow White, and an entire world of history and mythology. A little free advertising doesn't hurt."
As well as revealing "Xxoplex" today (3 September), the PC Music founder has announced a new livestream event called Appleville, which will take place on 12 September. Charli XCX, 100 gecs, Clairo, Hannah Diamond and more are due to perform. The event is free to watch, but fans can gain access to the exclusive material by purchasing the Appleville - Golden Ticket via the PC Music Bandcamp, which includes an exclusive Caroline Polachek remix of "Oh Yeah" and more. All proceeds from the Appleville event will go to Mermaids and Black Cultural Archives.
