Lasse Lokøy (fka Lokoy) announces new album, The More You Know
Norwegian artist, producer, and former Sløtface bassist Lasse Lokøy has announced his second album, The More You Know, alongside the release of lead single, "Julia".
“It’s a very honest depiction of someone I used to date while I was living in LA. And yes her name was Julia. Maybe I wasn’t ready, or maybe it was because I was still heart broken, or maybe it just wasn’t a match like that, but it led to me not being fully there for the true and larger romance,” Lokøy said of the song.
"I remember playing the song for her, and she was like “what the fuck”. Cause in the heat of the moment I would promise her that I was ready but then the feeling faded as quickly as it appeared. I like to think that over-sharing is caring. Cause then she knew what was going through my head. Sometimes it's hard for me to understand how I truly feel. But the songs will reveal it for me.”
Written and produced by Lokøy in LA (where he spent three years as a producer working closely with the likes Toro y Moi, Uffie and Om’Mas Keith) new album, The More You Know, is first album to be released under his birth name, is the follow up to his acclaimed 2021 solo debut, Badminton.
"I think what I’ve been inspired by lately is writers with more of a diaristic approach. This is the first album where I showcase more of myself as a singer-songwriter, while previous albums has been more of a production showcase. I feel like there are many versions of myself that are captured here. But I wouldn’t say it's a concept album. It's more like a photo album, just inward instead of outward, that has caught me in some different moments. Some are intense, some are just fun and sweet. When I write I’m at my most honest. None of the words on this album feel dishonest to me and that’s all I can hold myself accountable for,” he adds.
