Låpsley announces her fourth studio album, I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE
Låpsley has announced her fourth studio album, I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE, alongside the release of lead single, "Better".
Speaking on the track, Låpsley says: "BETTER is about meeting someone that makes you want to change your life. A good partner or friend holds up a mirror in the most beautiful and vulnerable way. My artistry is shape shifting, as my personal life is, for the better."
The artwork for I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE portrays Holly Låpsley Fletcher as a Joan Of Arc-like figure, donning ice-white long hair and three bows in hand, tapping into the Celtic influences of her mother’s Scottish heritage and making reference to her surname Fletcher (translates to ‘arrow-maker’). With a strong visual landscape that is rooted in both the past and present, it’s an ode to the timeless themes of the record (love, loss, identity) and was the first chance for Låpsley to take full creative control of her output - from visuals to production.
"BETTER" follows recent single, "CHURCH", which was released in October last year, marking her first independent release in over a decade of releasing music. The single was entirely self-funded and marked the official launch of Her Own Recordings, a label and community that’s 100% artist owned.
I’M A HURRICANE I’M A WOMAN IN LOVE sees Låpsley as a fully independent artist following her debut album Long Way Home (2016), Through Water, which was released in 2020, her third studio album, Cautionary Tales Of Youth (2023), and last year's EP, A Guilty Heart Can Never Rest.
