Johnny Marr, Bartees Strange and more pay tribute to Modest Mouse drummer Jeremiah Green
Modest Mouse have announced that their longtime drummer Jeremiah Green has died aged 45, and the likes of Johnny Marr and Bartees Strange have paid tribute to the musician online.
On Christmas Day (25 December) Jeremiah Green's mother shared a post on Facebook announcing that the drummer was "battling stage 4 cancer". Over the weekend Modest Mouse shared an update on Instagram, revealing that their 45-year-old founding member "laid down to rest and simply faded out."
"I’d like to say a bunch of pretty words right now, but it just isn’t the time," Modest Mouse added. "These will come later, and from many people. Please appreciate all the love you give, get, have given, and will get. Above all, Jeremiah was about love."
Johnny Marr paid tribute to the late drummer on Twitter, writing, "The great Jeremiah Green. My friend, bandmate, and the most creative musician I ever met."

Bartees Strange wrote, "Jeremiah Green was an incredibly inspiring drummer. I saw MM play for the first time this year thanks to a friend in the band - I’m glad I got to see what I always heard as extremely unique and thoughtful playing Rest in peace."

Lol Tolhurst also paid tribute to Green, writing, "So sad to hear about Jeremiah Green. We only met once a few years ago, he was a lovely fellow and as drummers we had an instant connection. I cherish that memory with love to his family and friends. RIP."
