Honeyglaze sign to Fat Possum and announce second album, Real Deal
London-based three piece Honeyglaze have announced their second record, Real Deal, alongside lead single "Don't".
Anouska Sokolow of the band says, “Based on my favourite Destiny’s Child song ‘bills, bills, bills’ (which is also a song about being done with waste men), ‘Don’t’ was written after the end of a particularly bad relationship and I had this anger at every man I felt had ever wronged me or spoken down to me. It’s really fun to be aggressive and direct sometimes, especially when it’s unexpected.”
“Don’t” is a striking calling card for Real Deal; the album which follows their 2022 self-titled debut.
During the recording with Claudius Mittendorfer (Parquet Courts, Interpol), Sokolow’s performance surprised her own bandmates, with Yuri Shibuichi saying: “I remember vividly sitting in the control room, atmosphere was calm, bit tired, Noush had just walked into the live room sipping tea to do the vocal take, Claudius had set up this crazy ball & biscuit mic going through some aggressive compressor, take 1 started to roll and the moment Noush started shouting down that mic, I honestly pissed myself. I was genuinely scared of her, certainly the most scared I'd felt during our time at Middle Farm Studios, more than the hairless cat.”
The band have also announced a full UK / EU tour, including a show at The Village Underground on 3 December, as well as stops in Glasgow, Manchester, Bristol, Paris, Berlin, and more.
