Holly Humberstone collaborates with Medium Build on "Cocoon"
Holly Humberstone has released reimagined versions of songs from her debut album, Paint My Bedroom Black.
Inviting friends and peers on her journey, Humberstone has shared new versions of “Cocoon” featuring singer/songwriter Medium Build and “Antichrist” featuring folk-pop group Tiny Habits. The new tracks follow the release of her recent collaboration with MUNA on “Into You Room”.
“I first discovered Medium Build about a year ago whilst I was touring in the states,” recalls Humberstone. “My tour manager Carl put on a song of his whilst we drove north up the Pacific Coast Highway and something about his intimate songwriting style and the beautiful scenery just felt very poignant and hit me in a different way. I felt like I understood him a bit and immediately reached out and asked him if he wanted to collaborate. I sent him my song ‘Cocoon’ and although the lyrics were already written, he turned the second verse into a story of his own. His delivery of the words transformed the song into something that felt really magical and so I’ve decided to release our version."
Earlier this year, Humberstone released her Work In Progress EP, a collection of four tracks from uncut demos that represent older versions of herself “mixed up with present versions of me”. The Work In Progress EP was written with long-time collaborator Rob Milton and songwriter Ben Leftwich, Work In Progress includes a new collaboration with Flyte’s Will Taylor and producer Andrew Sarlo (Big Thief, Dijon, Bon Iver).
