Helena Deland shares a cover of folk standard, "Newcastle"
Montreal-based songwriter and musician Helena Deland has contributed a cover of the old English folk standard, "Newcastle", to The FADER's first ever compilation.
The compilation also features tracks by Ezra Furman, Joanna Sternberg and RVG and 100% of the profits from sales of the album will go to support the invaluable work of Mermaids (UK), Transgender Law Center (USA) and Rainbow Railroad (Canada).
FADER and Friends Vol. 1 arrives two years after Digital FORT, FADER’s pandemic-era charitable reconfiguration of theirannual SXSW event FADER Fort. Dozens of artists contributed exclusive videos to two single-day streaming events, which raised over $25,000 for organisations supporting musicians during the pandemic.
This week also brings news that Deland's London show is now sold out, which is part of her UK and European tour in February 2024, in support of her latest album, Goodnight Summerland.
Fader & Friends Vol 1 is available only until 1 December. You can buy the compilation exclusively at Bandcamp.
