
Hayley Williams channels her inner Beyoncé: "Somebody's getting fired"
During their recent string of shows in Melbourne, Australia, Paramore's Hayley Williams had to address technical issues on stage due to their pyrotechnics failing three times.
Yesterday evening, during the first of the shows at Rod Laver Arena in Melbourne, Paramore's pyrotechnics and confetti cannons failed to launch.
In the latter half of their live performance of "Hard Times" which features on their fifth studio album, After Laughter, Williams usually sings a snippet Blondie's "Heart Of Glass" when the confetti cannons are supposed to fire. Instead, when they faltered, she sang: "Somebody's getting fired / Beyoncé did it so we can too / and I can't wait to speak with you / it's the third time this has happened to us".
Earlier this year, at their show in Houston, Williams paid homage to Houston native Beyoncé by singing a cover of "I Miss You" – which features on her fourth studio album and was co-written with Frank Ocean – in the a capella segment of their show between the songs "Liar" and "Crystal Clear".
Paramore are currently on a run of NZ/AUS shows in support of their sixth studio album, This Is Why, which was released earlier this year, and marked their final album within their contract with Atlantic Records.
