Hamilton Leithauser reveals David Byrne is working on a new solo album
Hamilton Leithauser, frontman of The Walkmen, has confirmed that he is collaborating with David Byrne on his forthcoming solo album.
Delving into the nine most influential songs in his life – including “Heaven” by Talking Heads – Leithauser revealed that the band's third studio album, Fear Of Music, was one that he kept going back to during the making of This Side Of The Island.
"I think Fear of Music is their best record. The words to that song ("Heaven") are amazing. He's got a pretty voice, but then he's not afraid to sort of ugly it up. And David Byrne's funny," Leithauser said, before revealing that he's working on David Byrne's new solo album. "I'm going to sing on it, and so I've got to know him a little bit and he's really cool," he revealed. "He didn’t disappoint, meeting him was amazing. He’s very polite and one of those guys whose music I’ve loved for 30 years or whatever... When I got the first message from him, I thought I was being punked."
This Side of the Island will be released on 7 March via Glassnote Records, and is available to pre-order now.
