Fans speculate that an Olivia Rodrigo and Lana Del Rey collaboration is on the way
Olivia Rodrigo is kissing her SOUR era goodbye, and ushering in the year with some new music.
Earlier this week, she announced that her forthcoming single, "Vampire" – which is her first release of original music since her 2021 debut album, SOUR – is set for release at the end of the month.
A few days later, she posted a selfie on Instagram with the caption, "bang bang kiss kiss", which refers to Del Rey's single “Venice Bitch”, taken from her sixth studio album, Norman Fucking Rockwell!.
The pair appear to be fans of each other, as when Rodrigo presented Del Rey with the Visionary Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music Awards, they gushed over each other.
“Lana has raised an entire generation of music lovers and songwriters like me, and taught them that there’s beauty in their vulnerability and power in their melancholy," Rodrigo said in her presentation speech, whilst Del Rey added: “I can’t tell you how much it means that someone who wrote "Drivers License" is standing next to me," whilst accepting the award.
Fans have been going wild in the Instagram comments, questioning whether the post signalled a future collaboration. "is this hinting at something with lana or am i just delulu", one person asked, with another echoing the question: "ARE WE GETTING A LANA COLLAB????".
Neither Lana Del Rey or Olivia Rodrigo have directly addressed this.
