English Teacher unveil their brand new single, "Nearly Daffodils"
Leeds indie frontrunners English Teacher release the brand new single, "Nearly Daffodils", following its BBC 6 Music premiere with Steve Lamacq.
Detailing their pop-infused new single, bandleader Lily Fontaine explained: “"Nearly Daffodils" is about heartbreak and acceptance of unfulfilled potential. How, no matter how much you may want something, no matter how much effort you may put into something’s growth or development, no matter how beautiful you can envision its fruition; life is a bitch and about as unstoppable as a freight train”.
The single follows on from "The World's Biggest Paving Slab", which coincided with news of the band's signing to Island Records, and precedes their biggest headline tour to date, which kicks off later this month.
Following the release of their debut EP Polyawkward, in 2022, the band had a breakthrough year which included supporting the likes of Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Paolo Nutini, Parquet Courts and Yard Act, in addition to notable debut slots at SXSW and Glastonbury.
"Nearly Daffodils" is out now via Island Records.
