Dizzy announce self-titled album and share new single "Open Up Wide"
Dizzy share brand new single "Open Up Wide" and announce details of their self-titled third album, which is due out in August via Communion Records.
Today, Dizzy share their new single and announce details of their brand new self-titled third album, which is produced by David Pramik (Selena Gomez, Bebe Rexha, Machine Gun Kelly).
"Open Up Wide" is the band's second single to be released this year. Discussing the meaning behind the title, singer Katie Munshaw says: “When we started recording the album, our producer David [Pramik] was super conscious of cutting the fat from each song. One afternoon he encouraged us to write our parts in a simpler, more ‘spoonfed’ fashion for easy listening, when Mack piped up cheekily ‘Open up wide! Here comes the airplane!’ The next morning we were all feeling a bit resentful of that mindset and "Open Up Wide" came to be while we were having our morning coffees.”
The self-titled album will include previously released singles "Birthmark" and "Barking Dog", and is the follow-up to 2020's The Sun and Her Scorch which was nominated for Canada's Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. In 2021, Dizzy released the Separate Places EP which consisted of reworked songs from The Sun and Her Scorch, and featured collaborations with Flyte, Luna Li, Kevin Garrett and more.
