Dave Grohl dedicates "Cold Day in the Sun" to Taylor Hawkins
Last night (24 May), Foo Fighters played the first show of their tour at the Bank Of New Hampshire Pavilion.
The performance marked the band's return to the stage for the first time since the death of Taylor Hawkins, last year.
After introducing the band, Grohl performed Hawkins-penned song "Cold Day In The Sun", which features on their 2005 album, In Your Honor. Footage shows Dave Grohl visibly getting emotional as he played a tribute to his bandmate who normally sings lead vocals on the song.
After the release of his solo album KOTA, in an interview with Consequence of Sound, Hawkins revealed that Foo Fighters management fought for the song not to be included on the album. “Our manager wanted to take off the one song I wrote – I think they figured if there’s one less Dave Grohl song, there’s one less chance of a hit."
