Burna Boy drops his brand new album, I Told Them…
Back in June, GRAMMY Award-winning Burna Boy unveiled his first solo release of the year with “Sittin’ On Top Of The World".
Today he has released his seventh studio album, which comes with a whole host of collaborations including the likes of 21 Savage, RZA, J. Cole, and more.
Speaking about the album with Zane Lowe for Apple Music, the rapper explained that he sees the record as a milestone of his success. “This one is for the part of my own home and the people in my own home who didn’t believe or doubt it, or still doubt, or any type of thing,” he said. “You can go back to my old tweets and stuff. I basically predicted everything that’s happening now.”
He then went on to like his manifestation of success with the words of a prophet, and concluded with: “It’s fun to tell people something is true, and they doubt, and then they end up seeing it. There’s no greater feeling.”
To coincide with the album’s release, Burna Boy has also released a limited edition magazine which is inspired by the album’s artwork, featuring a conversation between Burna Boy and Wu-Tang Clan’s RZA, letters from his family, exclusive photos, articles written by his grandfather (former manager of the legendary Fela Kuti), photos from throughout the making of the album, and more. The limited run magazine will be available exclusively at select pop-up events and Burna Boy’s official website.
