Bob Dylan secretly releases CD of studio outtakes from 1973 soundtrack sessions
Bob Dylan has secretly shared a 50th Anniversary Collection 1973 CD in record stores scattered across Europe.
The collection consists of studio outtakes from the 1973 Pat Garrett and Billy The Kid soundtrack sessions, and due to its secretive release, collectors are already going wild, with bids on eBay reaching over $500.
A stipulation in European copyrights states that all sound recordings will be sent into the public domain if they aren’t released 50 years after their creation, which means that it has become a tradition for artists to share studio rarities such as these. Dylan combined his first three albums into a box-set when their outtakes were nearing the copyright deadline, and he is known for pressing a small batch of CDs and sending them to European record stores with no notice.

Last month, Bob Dylan released At Budokan – a live album presenting two 1987 Tokyo shows in full, with 36 previously unreleased performances in the deluxe 4-CD version (2-LP version offers 16 previously unreleased cuts).
A Bob Dylan biopic is currently in the works, which will star Timothée Chalamet.
