Big Thief's James Krivchenia announces fourth solo album, Performing Belief
James Krivchenia, producer and drummer of Big Thief, has announced his fourth solo album, Performing Belief, alongside the release of new single, "Probably Wizards".
Following the 2022 album, Blood Karaoke, the forthcoming full-length Performing Belief was made in collaboration with electric bassist Sam Wilkes (Wilkes/Gendel) and double bassist/multi-instrumentalist Joshua Abrams.
A majority of percussion on the album was sampled from Krivchenia’s own performed field recorded collection. For years, he would record any and all of his musical encounters with natural objects: performing on a particularly resonant log on a hike, throwing rocks into a pristine pond, tap dancing in the mud.
Performing Belief, will be released on 2 May via electronic music record label Planet Mu.
