Big Thief's James Krivchenia announces new album with lead single "Emissaries of Creation"
Big Thief's drummer and producer James Krivchenia has announced a new album titled Blood Karaoke, and has released "Emissaries of Creation" as the first taster of the record.
Hot on the heels of Big Thief releasing their Dragon New Warm Mountain I Believe In You double album last month, the band's drummer and producer James Krivchenia has released "Emissaries of Creation", the first outing from his upcoming experimental solo album.
Blood Karaoke will follow Krivchenia's 2020 solo album A New Found Relaxation, and was made using small samples from YouTube videos found through online generators that Krivchenia "layered and collaged".
Krivchenia says of the album, "It was a very iterative, long process. Lots of editing and putting together little moments or 10 second chunks with lots of samples. The music was conceived to be a somewhat unbroken 40-minute-long composition and I think of the singles as excerpts."
