Big Thief play first show with new bassist at Project Pabst festival
Following the departure of bassist Max Oleartchik, Big Thief played their first live show in almost a year at Portland's Project Pabst festival.
In a statement posted on their socials, Big Thief announced the departure of longtime bassist Max Oleartchik, writing: "After many beautiful years together, Max is no longer in Big Thief. Our love for each other is infinite, and we are so grateful for all we have shared these many years together since the beginning of our journey as a band," Big Thief's statement read.
On Sunday evening, the band played their first show without him – as a five piece with Justin Felton on bass, as well as a second drummer – and also debuted ten new songs as part of their set.
It is yet to be revealed whether Big Thief are planning on releasing a new album this year.
