AURORA re-releases debut album track, "Through the Eyes of a Child"
Almost a decade later, Norwegian artist AURORA has re-released her track, "Through the Eyes of a Child".
Originally featured on her debut album, All My Demons Greeting Me as a Friend, the song has found new life nearly a decade after its original release in 2016 —thanks to a powerful closing scene in Netflix’s breakout series, Adolescence.
"It’s a strange and wonderful thing to see people connecting with this song. The world around me has changed so much since I wrote it. And now the words mean a lot more to me. The deep need for the world to stop neglecting the inner child, and confusing innocence with weakness. I hope the song gives people something good. It was always written in the hope that it would find people and treat them kindly. Though it’s strange to me, that it’s out there living its own life- I find it very beautiful," AURORA says.
AURORA wrote "Through the Eyes of a Child" when she was just 13 herself, the same age as the main character—imbuing the track with a raw, youthful honesty that resonates deeply with people. On social media, the director of Adolescence Philip Barantini expressed: “It was the one thing I would listen to when we were making the show, I knew very early on that I needed to use it at the end! It’s so haunting and powerful.”
"Through the Eyes of a Child" is out now via Decca Records.
