You might have noticed that we’ve streamlined our beloved New Music Blog lately and begun steering it towards brand new bands and producers, posting fresh tracks and videos under the new ‘Discovery‘ banner. As of this week, we’re going one further with a new daily feature: UnDiscovered.
Every weekday we’ll be shining a spotlight on an emerging artist who we feel hasn’t quite had the recognition they deserve; those bubbling under the surface and about to break or quite simply, acts we love but haven’t given our full attention to on the site previously.
Each weekday at 3pm you’ll be able to feast on a brand new and UnDiscovered act.
Hometown: New York
Lineup: Gallant
For fans of: The Weeknd, Miguel, How To Dress Well
Key track: ‘Please? (Vignette)’

Is it just us or does RnB seem to get more intensely broody with each passing month? The latest emerging act to dip a toe in these ocean-deep emotive waters is New York’s Gallant. While we don’t have a whole lot of information on the talented vocalist right now – we’re yet to even learn his name – the most recent piece he’s turned out has left us in raptures.
‘Please? (Vignette)’ and its ice cool monochrome accompanying video pitches Gallant somewhere between the clandestine atmospherics found on How To Dress Well’s Total Loss and the sticky anesthetized beats we’re accustomed to hearing from The Weeknd.
Aided by SZA affiliate Felix Snow’s glossy production, Gallant’s soulful musings come over less seedy than your average Abel Tesfaye lyric; taking into account the aforementioned cinematic clip, he seems more concerned with having fun “the clean way” and by that we mean getting absolutely hammered on champagne at plush dinner parties.
Be sure to take in his haunting, cotton-candy soft reimagining of Ke$ha’s ‘Die Young’ where Gallant flexes that stunning falsetto of his without a single note wandering out of place. Next up is an EP entitled Zebra and with Snow at the helm once again we’re expecting big things from the now LA-based crooner come the end of the year.
