Listen: Young Wonder- "Intergalactic"
Following the acclaim of their infectious EP Show Your Teeth in 2013, electronic pop duo Young Wonder cast yet another bewitching, atmospheric spell on current release "Intergalactic".
The sound of "Intergalactic" is very much reflected in its name; where the duo's previous releases sparkle with a sense of scattered uncertainty, "Intergalactic" thrives on a smoother, more extensive and understood sound.
Whilst the percussion-led slick glimmer of Ian Ring's (inter)stellar production reverberates as stunningly as on "Show Your Teeth", there is a touch of the cosmic to "Intergalactic" that only becomes more pronounced throughout its sublime 4 minutes. Floating within the celestial synths, Rachel Koeman's wistful vocals interject an ethereal, otherworldy direction to the dubstep-influenced arrangement.
Big things have always been predicted for Young Wonder and their recent expansion in sound may just be the evolution they need. "Intergalactic" soars but in the same way that galaxies exist within space: quietly, and stunningly.
