The Big Moon sign to Fiction and reveal punchy new single “Cupid”
The Big Moon caught our attention last summer with the wonderfully contagious “Sucker”. The debut oozed fun thanks to its euphoric wails and completely catching “woo ooh” refrain. We were immediately suckers for the newcomers.
Now, the London fourpiece - Juliette, Fern, Soph and Celia - have deservedly signed to Fiction Records (home to touring mates The Maccabees) and reveal their first single on their entirely suitable new home, due for its limited edition vinyl release on 13 May.
”Cupid” is their most assured, grown-up release to date but loses none of the band’s joyfulness. It once again saunters its way to a typically infectious, sing-along chorus delivered with effortless swagger and cool from lead singer Juliette. “I’ve been waiting for a girl like you/I’m not ready for the change”, she snarls with a gently underlying menace.
Produced and mixed by Catherine Marks (Foals, Wolf Alice), “Cupid” is the latest string to The Big Moon’s ever-improving bow.
The Big Moon are currently on tour with a London show at The 100 Club on 13 April - tickets and info here.
