Novo Amor soars to the stratosphere on cathartic new track "Carry You"
Welsh multi-instrumentlist Novo Amor is sharing beautiful new cut "Carry You", the first track from new EP Bathing Beach.
Novo Amor - aka Ali Lacey - describes the song as "an expression of nostalgia, a wistful nod to to a certain period of time."
"The idea to title the EP Bathing Beach comes from an illustrated postcard of a shore in New York State, a place that was my home for a summer back in 2011," Lacey adds of the EP. "For me, Bathing Beach exerts a calmness that was present during my time there; the idea of it being a place where the land meets the water almost feels like the perfect place to let something go, or set something free."
These coast-inspired threads of tranquillity and release weave through "Carry You" like birds spiralling and pirouetting through the sky. The song is rich and full, and despite a wealth of layers building towards the heavens, there's a bold sense of freedom - it's certainly a track indebted to the natural world, and while direct comparisons to Scandinavian acts like Sin Fang or Sigur Rós are off base, the same feeling of wanderlust bubbles up. "Carry You" is unrestrained and free, conjuring visions of a wild world lightyears from the ruckus of modern life.
Novo Amor will be playing London's Hoxton Hall on 16 May.
