Mabel unveils swooning second track "My Boy My Town"
With "Know Me Better" Mabel announced herself as the latest player in the glistening, pop-RnB world. Warm and assured beyond teenage-experience, the crisp, infectious debut immediately aligned her with the likes of Laura Welsh and genre-champion Jessie Ware.
Now, the London teenager - timing her increased momentum very neatly as all eyes begin to glance towards 2016 - is showing off carefully-judged songwriting diversity. By slowing down proceedings, Mabel creates a more loungey number whilst painting a picture of frustrated romance.
"Let's meet in the middle / 'cause we both want a little bit more" she implores as her effortless vocal, tinged with a subtle huskiness, builds to a cry above tidy production of clicking electronic rhythms and swathes of synths.
Though never a given, family has clearly provided a wonderfully musical upbringing. She counts Massive-Attack producer Cameron McVey in her family and, although as a would-be rebellious teen she tried to turn her back on music, the quality can't help but shine through in abundance.
Stream "My Boy My Town" below; it's the second piece of brilliantly hushed, seductive pop-RnB from this exciting new talent. She may want a little, but we want a whole lot more.
