Leeds’ hopeless romantics, Trudy, air their wide-eyed pop with "Behave"
Produced by Spring Kings’ Tarek Musa, Trudy’s shambling indie pop dwells upon youthful sentimentality.
With the warbling appeal of Jonathan Richman, the Leeds quartet’s lovesick lamentations are supposedly the product of frontman Olly’s first experience of childhood heartbreak. Even their name, ‘Trudy’, invokes the image of a forlorn teen sipping milkshakes in a '50s diner.
Despite the group’s unmistakeable doo-wop influences, underlying is a predilection for C86 guitar pop. Trudy are the babies of the cassette children armed with juvenile jangling guitars and a bratty, sardonic attitude.
"Behave" is an ode not only to its influences, but to the torment of tortured romantics. Trudy are painting an image of wide-eyed innocence. Are you ready to be heartbroken?
