‘Thrown’, the debut release from Kiasmos, is one of the most beautiful tracks of the year. The Icelandic duo, comprising much-loved composer Ólafur Arnalds and Bloodgroup man Janus Rasmussen, gently slipped the song out back in February, and it has received at least one play a day from me ever since.
The track is finally getting a vinyl release courtesy of Erased Tapes, and will be accompanied by a new track and remixes – the first of which is this FaltyDL rework of ‘Thrown’. Pumped up but still retaining the melancholic, quietly chimerical feel of the original, the New Yorker’s version manages to sound simultaneously steroid-infused and opiate-swaddled – and makes the wait for new Kiasmos material even more difficult.
The Thrown EP is out on Erased Tapes on 24 September.
