Dublin newcomers Just Wondering's debut single "Drive" is a banger
Showing off their pop potential, Dublin trio Just Wondering are in pole position with "Drive".
Having released a handful of tracks previously, garnering some buzz at home in Ireland, Just Wondering emerge in their latest form with "Drive" marking the start of this new chapter.
Freedom, friendship and the open road lay ahead for the three-piece as they cruise into your consciousness with this undeniable earworm. Wale Akande, Jack O’Shaughnessy and Adam Redmond, bounce ideas around over beats in Redmond's back garden and with "Drive" they struck gold.
“Drive, is the first tune we all wrote together," the band say. “We think it's cool that all the lyrics were written completely together regardless of who's verse it is." They think it sounds like "getting where you wanna be, in a car you can’t afford."
"It’s not a personal story, it's very much about this thing that we're sharing and that we want to share with our friends. It’s just supposed to be translatable as taking a Bluetooth speaker and playing it at a gaff with our mates."
Masterfully splicing genres and influences the trio look to the like Jon Hopkins, Four Tet and Headie One for inspiration. "Drive" is the ultimate, carefree feel-good tune to cure some of your 2020 woes.
It's exciting, and it's just the beginning for this exciting group of friends who ultimately love making music and live for their friendships.
