Oakland-based, Australia-born songwriter Hazel English made her indie-pop debut this spring with the wistful, utterly charming single “Never Going Home”. English continues to evoke an atmosphere of sunlit contemplation with her sophomore single “It’s Not Real”.
Swept along by the softness of English’s vocals and a propulsive, summery melody splashed with guitar reverb, “It’s Not Real” finds the songwriter gently dismantling illusions in favor of forward motion. Ever-graceful, the track’s lilting vibe reminds us that the sunlight of transformation offers warmth even when facing difficult truths.
