daine explores distorted escapist doom with left-field new single "Ascension"
The Charli XCX-approved artist is ready to blow you away with "Ascension", the first half of a new AA-side release.
Believe the hype, daine is a pioneering young artist colliding worlds of influences to create her unique form of hardcore pop. Like a burst of electrical energy conjured by a thunderstorm, her introspective observations are transformed into hard-hitting lyrics and then warped into the arresting, soundscapes she so expertly crafts.
Teaming up with Adelaide-based artist and producer Lonelyspeck for "Ascension", we see daine dive deeper into her left-field melting point. Raised on Midwest American emo and influenced by her local metal scene and a growing culture of online experimentalists, this new track is her best yet.
It's adjacent single "Angel Numbers" is set to drop next month with production from Danny L Harle (Caroline Polachek, Rina Sawayama). It promises to offer another different take on daine's already expansive catalogue of emo-pop, following her debut singles "Picking Flowers" and "My Way Out", which both showcase her hypnotic, mesmerising charm.
The Melbourne-based artist is also set to make her live debut this weekend at the mysterious new live event Nocturne on 31st October. She will play alongside a handful of other exciting new artists who are pushing the boundaries of what pop music can be including Ethel Cain, Lil Aaron and LAN Party.
