COMPNY share summer-pop goodness on "Gently Let You Down"
Artists pouring their heart out for unrequited love is more than commonplace in music. Dishing out relationship advice for friends who are on the verge of breakup, however, isn’t so much the norm. That’s what subtly works wonders for COMPNY and their latest track, “Gently Let You Down”.
“Sometimes we’re out of love / sometimes we’re out of pocket, no / but we’re never gonna lose our love” the band harp in unison over chirruping guitar lines that mimic the hook with bouncing beats. It’s the song’s intangible “togetherness” that makes it pair so bittersweetly with the downcast subject matter: COMPNY vivaciously willing something on that’s broken or stale.
“Gently Let You Down”, produced with Barny Barnicott (Peace, Bombay Bicycle Club, Arctic Monkeys) is out on 7 August.
