Watch: Fitness - "You Go Where I Put You"
“Cash out or black out?” The last time we heard from Adam Moerder, he was wailing away at that age old question as vocalist for GODMODE Records supergroup Montreal Sex Machine. “You Go Where I Put You”, his solo debut (with production help from fellow label boss and MSM member Nick Sylvester) as Fitness, is both a welcome return and a dark departure from his previous work.
Fitness ditches the fuzzy guitar heroics so fundamental to the now-defunct Mr. Dream, replacing them with synths that are equal parts Nine Inch Nails and Duran Duran, played to a rhythm that evokes The Knife’s “Heartbeats”. Moerder’s unique brand of baritone thrives in this environment, pushing the song forward in a way that may have been impossible in previous efforts.
