Last December, Leeds’ Adult Jazz received the attention they deserved with the release of “Springful”, a dreamy, euphoric number from their double A-side debut. The band have now revealed its accompanying video, a Herman Hesse-influenced journey with a suitably surreal and dream-like narrative.
Like Hesse’s novel Siddhartha, “Springful”‘s protagonist is carried in a sedan chair – by members of Adult Jazz no less – and begins a journey; from a veiled state of dissatisfaction to a sense of awakening. The video, directed by Michael Battcock and Harry Burgess, has a surreal aesthetic that thankfully hinders any chance of the narrative being understood as an obvious analogy of a band from Leeds on the rise to London.
That said, fans should not miss out on Adult Jazz’s intimate London show at Servant Jazz Quarters on 5 February.
