Rose Droll gives breezy delivery on DIY track "Hush"
San Francisco's Rose Droll shares "Hush", the first offering from her DIY debut album Your Dog.
"Hush" is a beautifully captivating offering. Rose Droll delivers her vocals in a subtle manner, whispering and visiting popular melodies like the nursery rhyme "Ring a Ring o'Roses".
The intimacy is body-heat close, as Rose Droll layers her soft, rap-infused vocals to emphasise the syllables and present a genre-bending offering that is completely self-made.
Subtly laced with little bursts of lo-fi, the melodic piano could easily be a standalone piece, but teamed with Rose Droll's doubled-up vocals it becomes a sultry reflection that jumps between positives and negatives of an ongoing relationship, weighing it up in an enchantingly elegant manner.
Defying all boundaries, Rose Droll explains the approach she takes to music in more detail, “I’ve never tried to emulate someone else’s playing. I’ve never tried to go ‘that is so cool and I want to copy that.’ I don’t know how to copy people."
Her statement is embossed with a vibrant glow as she buries little treasures in the complexity of the bustling instrumentals, providing an immersive experience that seems to get deeper and more emotive with each listen.
"Hush" is the first taste of an artist with meticulous talent, having self-recorded and self-produced her forthcoming debut album, not forgetting she played all the instruments on the album too.
Rose Droll's last release was her 2017 EP Photograph.
