Night Games continue to impress with "Suffocate", their latest piece of seductive electropop
We have been somewhat enamoured with Night Games ever since they appeared at the back end of last year. “Signals” did exactly what its name suggests, outlining their knack for broodingly infectious electropop.
Now, the East London duo reveal their most assured and contagious outing in the shape of “Suffocate”. Their darkest and most sultry cut to date, Constance’s haunting vocal takes hold from the off, nodding to the mysterious power of FKA twigs, while slow-burning, heart-beating production from Paul embellishes the seductive atmosphere further.
“I am the space between your sheets / lift them over my head so I can’t breathe,” she pines in a typically velvet tone but with an unnerving, subtextual anguish.
Premiering below, the track comes ahead of exclusive run of London shows, starting on 16 June at F. Cooke Pie and Mash shop on Hoxton street, and serves as Night Games’ most assured and arresting number to date.
