Natty Wylah unveils his mellower side in latest release “Feel U”
Sampling Jorja Smith’s “On Your Mind”, rising rapper Natty Wylah follows up previous outing “WHOAMI” with the laidback soul of “Feel U”.
Hailing from North London, Natty Wylah isn’t afraid to make an impression with his music. Releasing his single “WHOAMI” at the tail end of last year, the track challenges institutionalised ignorance and lazy cultural stereotypes, and explores a disconnect with his heritage.
Now returning with “Feel U”, the song takes a different tack and marks an audible side step from Wylah. Sampling the likes of Jorja Smith with a flipped sample of her garage-leaning effort “On Your Mind”, the new single once again displays the artist’s pensive and thoughtful lyrics of love and life with a mellow beat and chilled guitar work.
“‘Feel U’ is written from a hungover hole with a faint ray of light shining through contemplation,” shares Wylah of his latest outing. “Through a haze of flings and things - needing something deeper: the light expands throughout the song culminating in a new day, telling them they can hate if they like ‘they’re just wasting their own time’”.
