Loyle Carner shares "Florence", his ode to the unborn sister he "always wanted"
Loyle Carner has shared his collaboration with Kwes, "Florence", about the unborn sister he "always wanted".
The track sits alongside "Tierney Terrace" on Carner's upcoming AA-side release which is out today via paradYse.
Speaking about "Florence", Carner says: “I’ve always wanted a little sister. The music speaks for itself..."
Explaining "Tierney Terrace", he adds: "Just off Brixton hill, Tierney Terrace was where my grandparents lived, and it became a bit of a refuge for me when my mum was working late. I learnt a lot from both of them, and at times, felt my grandfather was the only man I could look up to. I wrote this a while back, after a run in with my biological dad."
Support in the UK has come from all areas, including i-D, The Observer and NME, to being championed on Radio 1Xtra by DJ Semtex and by Phil Taggart and Huw Stephens at Radio 1. His previous cut ‘Guts’ - a collaboration with Kate Tempest - was added to 6Music’s A-list winning him a legion of new fans.
