Listen: Will Joseph Cook - "Streets Of Paris"
17 year old newcomer Will Joseph Cook reveals a glistening new slice of his infectious indie pop, laying a real marker down as one for the future in the process.
Much has been said about the dominance of male singer-songwriters as we find our musical feet in 2015; it's all Sheeran, Smith, Ezra, an exclusively male BBC's Sound Of shortlist. But don't let that take anything away from the potential rise of Will Joseph Cook.
The enviably young artist is yet to celebrate his 18th birthday, but is already laying down a real marker as a name for the future with the talent to join the aforementioned pace-setters thanks to an immediate and uncanny knack for infectious indie pop.
With careful nods to the likes of Two Door Cinema Club, Cook embraces an upbeat, summery hue in this latest effort, saying of the track, “Streets of Paris is a song I wrote inspired by some good times I had last summer. I came up with the riff around last June and the melody became the soundtrack for my summer. The lyrics came as a reflection of everything that happened.”
The cut will be followed by further releases in the near future, but for now stream this sunny new number and say hello to another exceptionally talented young British singer-songwriter.
